Police are looking for a 25-year-old Albert Lea man after he reportedly fired a gun into the air Wednesday in an attempt to threaten his girlfriend.
A 24-year-old woman called police from Casey’s General Store on 12th Street Southwest in Austin around 9:15 to report that she was being assaulted by her boyfriend.
While police were en route, she called back and said that he had fired shots into the air.
Police arrived and searched the area near a home on 16th Avenue Southwest. One shell was recovered, but police have reason to believe someone had picked up a number of other shells, chief Paul Philipp said Thursday.
The gun used was a 40-caliber handgun.
Police did not apprehend the 25-year-old man Wednesday but are currently looking for him.
