Relive old time radio at the Paramount

A vintage venue lends itself to reminiscing of an era gone by this weekend. The Historic Paramount Theatre will be transformed into KORD, a fictional old time live radio studio, Saturday night when the Forte Milers Barbershop Quartet presents “Remember Radio.”
The Forte Milers Barbershop Chorus, composed of singers from across southeastern Minnesota and northeastern Iowa, will sing a variety of familiar 20th century songs.
The show also features as headliner Iowa-based Christian quartet the Journeymen, who sing Broadway, patriotic and southern gospel selections.
“I have seen the Journeymen myself a couple times,” said Forte Miler singer Dave Sylte, “And they are one of the top barbershop quartets around.”
Dan Conradt, veteran of Austin radio and television, will be on stage as KORD radio announcer. Conradt is currently a reporter for KAAL TV and writes a column for the Austin Post-Bulletin.
Sylte said it will be a fun and nostalgic evening.
“The Paramount is the perfect atmosphere to recreate an old-time radio feel.”
“Remember Radio” begins at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $10 in advance and $11 at the door. Student tickets are $6. Tickets may be purchased by calling 434-0934 or visiting www.paramounttheatre.org.
