State representatives to be at Minnesota State Fair

Published 7:39 am Tuesday, September 1, 2009

More than 40 state representatives are scheduled to be at this year’s Minnesota State Fair, which runs through Sept. 7.

Besides visiting with lawmakers, fairgoers can let their opinion be known on a number of state issues by voting in the annual State Fair Poll. This year’s questions cover such topics as funding for a Vikings’ stadium, unallotment, medical marijuana, early voting and budget cuts versus tax increases.

Although not scientific, ballot results give a heads up to what Minnesotans think about some high-profile issues. A list of this year’s poll questions are available on the House Web site, www.house.mn, and poll results should be available on the site Sept. 8.

The booth will be stocked with information introducing fairgoers to state government and to help them better understand the legislative process.

The exhibit will be located in the northeast corner of the Education Building on Cosgrove Street just north of Dan Patch Avenue.
