Wayne DeBoer

Wayne Kenneth DeBoer, age 54, of Lyle, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009 at Mitchell County Regional Care Center in Osage, Iowa. He was born March 29, 1955 to Kenneth and Dorothy (Higgins) DeBoer in Osage, Iowa. After graduating from Lyle High School in 1973, Wayne worked at Wilson Foods in Albert Lea for 17 years, IBM for 11 years and most recently at McNeilus in Riceville. A volunteer for the Lyle Fire Department for 22 years and on the Lyle City Council for six years, he loved golf, sports and was a Twins fan.
Survivors include his son, Dean DeBoer of Austin; a brother, Dwight (Melody) DeBoer of Lyle; a sister, Cheryl (Ed) Cimino of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nieces and nephews: Weston, Tyler, Amber, Adam, Nathan, Ryan and Kristine. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Dorothy DeBoer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009 at Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church, rural Lyle, with Pastor Lydia Mittag officiating. Friends may call at Worlein Funeral Home from 4 to 6:30 p.m., Friday and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Six Mile Grove Cemetery. The organist will be Pam Sampson and soloist will be Bradley Nelson. Casketbearers will be Denny Helgeson, Steve Baumann, Burly Olson, Mike Taylor, Billy Smith and Darcy Strouf. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is in charge of arrangements.
