H1N1 vaccination clinics and information sessions will be held this weekend in Austin.

Austin Medical Clinic received a limited shipment of the H1N1 vaccine injectable shots Thursday, and has scheduled several clinics through early next week. At this time, the clinics are only for targeted groups.

The clinics will be held Saturday through Tuesday, or as long as supplies last, in the Oak Park Mall Community Room. See below for exact times.

At this time, the clinics will offer vaccinations only to pregnant women, persons who live with or provide care to infants less than six-months-old, and children ages six months to 18 years. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Both the H1N1 mist and shots will be available at Oak Park Mall until the supply is gone. Individuals will be screened to determine whether they should receive the mist or the shot, based on the Minnesota Department of Health and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.

As more vaccine becomes available, additional dates will be scheduled.

The H1N1 vaccine is free, but there is a minimal administrative fee.

St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin hosts two informational classes about the H1N1 flu virus Sunday morning, Nov. 1.

Classes will be led by Janne Barnett, Mower County Public Health Nurse.

Information about immunizations and precautions will be reviewed.

The classes are open to the public. The classes begin at 9:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.
