The Southland football team played another strong second half in a 26-7 win at Chatfield Friday.
The Rebels (5-0 overall) led 10-7 at the half, but dominated in the second frame to put it away.
“We’re a good second half team and that’s because we spend a lot of time in the weight room and work hard,” Southland head coach Shawn Kennedy said. “We need to be better in the first half next week when Rushford/Peterson comes to town. They’re a heck of a team.”
Southland opened the scoring with a 28-yard field goal by William Ramirez and Chatfield (3-2 overall) responded to take a 7-3 lead.
Sam Noterman hooked up with Zach Heimer for an 80-yard TD pass right before the half to put Southland up 10-7 at the break.
Noterman hit Alan May for a 39-yard score and David Schotanus recovered a fumble in the end zone to make it 23-7, before Ramirez hit an 18-yard field goal.
