Lorie Line brings her celebrated Christmas show tour to Austin for the first time ever next week.

She performs at the Paramount Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Minneapolis-based pianist and performer’s annual holiday tour has been too big to fit into the Paramount Theatre in the past, the theater’s operations manager Scott Anderson said.

“We are very excited. It is her third appearance in Austin, and the Christmas show is extremely popular in the midwest,” he said.

Line’s 2009 Christmas show is more intimate, with herself and just five musicians on stage. In the past, a pop chamber orchestra has accompanied her tours. Though she is doing things on a smaller scale this year, Line is celebrating something grand.

It is her 20th anniversary of touring across the country.

Line will sing old favorites, share a personal letter and take requests from the audience for her on-the–spot medley. She will also showcase dresses from world famous designers throughout the show.

The concert is family friendly — Santa will even be there to meet the kids.

Line is originally of Reno, Nev. She moved to Minneapolis with her husband Tim because of a job transfer. Using her piano performance degree, Line worked for Dayton’s as a full-time pianist in the late 1980s and early 1990s, before customers encouraged her to record music.

Since then she has sold more than 5 million albums, published more than 20 books of music and recorded 27 CDs, according to www.lorieline.com.

Anderson said there were tickets remaining on both the main floor and in the balcony as of Thursday afternoon. Tickets are available at the Paramount Theatre box office, 125 Fourth Ave. NE.
