Blooming Prairie junior forward Whitney Burt scored her team’s last six points as she led the Awesome Blossoms to a 37-35 win over Randolph (3-13 overall) in BP Tuesday.
Burt, who finished with eight points and seven rebounds, scored with 13 seconds left to put BP (9-6 overall, 5-4 Gopher) for good. She also scored to tie the game at 35 with one minute left. She was targeted on two of her three late scores and the other was a put-back.
“She’s one of our quickest kids and she’s strong,” BP head coach John Worke said. “She didn’t get lay-ups like we were hoping for, but she still came up with the scores down the stretch.”
BP stopped Randolph’s last scoring chance by knocking the ball out of bounds twice to run off the clock.
BP scoring: Whitney Burt, 8; Erica Manske, 8; Marie Morem, 5; Yasmine Smith, 5; Ashley Campbell, 4; Jordan Noble, 4; Kelli Naatz, 2; Tayla Jones, 1; field goals: 29 percent (14-for-48); free throws: 50 percent (10-for-20); rebounds: 30 (Marie Morem, 8)
