No one was injured during a chimney fire Saturday at a southwest Austin home.

Police officers and firefighters were dispatched to 1906 10th St. SW at around 2:40 p.m. after a resident noticed bubbling paint on the ceiling and called 911.

The residents, which included at least three family members, then safely evacuated the home, according to a police report.

Firefighters placed a ladder against the chimney and were able to extinguish the flames as a large amount of smoke billowed out.

Homeowner JoAnn Beverly Smith, 77, who has insurance on the house, was able to stay in her home after the fire with the chimney area boarded up.

The total damage to the home is unknown, the report states.

It is unclear exactly how the fire started, and the Austin Fire Department will continue to investigate.
