Winhawks beat Packers 11-1

The Packers boys hockey team ran into one of the better teams in the Big Nine Thursday night and it showed.
Winona (10-2 overall, 4-0 Big Nine) scored on two slap-shots in the first three minutes and Kyle Florin made it 4-0 when he scored twice in a 30 second span later in the first.
The Winhawks took a 6-0 lead after one period and Blake Wilcox took over in the second period, where he scored three times — including a span where he scored twice in nine seconds.
Alex Sheldon had 33 saves and allowed five goals for Austin (4-7 overall, 0-4 Big Nine) and Aaron Dooley made 10 saves and allowed six goals.
Isaac Gorman scored Austin’s only goal halfway through the third period when he knocked in a snap-shot in transition.
