Your vote does count

Wednesday is an important day for Mower County, as is Feb. 10. On these two days, of course, the primary and special election will be held respectively to decide the race for the vacant 5th District seat on the Mower County Board of Commissioners.
This district represents only a fraction of county residents, and only the registered voters in the 5th District can cast a ballot, but the end result affects everyone countywide.
Every voice on the board of commissioners is crucial when it comes to making important decisions that affect us.
As a result, we hope the turnout in both the primary and the special election is high, and we urge all registered voters in this district to make your opinion known.
Some voters, especially during presidential elections, feel their vote doesn’t count.
This won’t be the case Wednesday.
With a limited voter area, seven candidates competing in the primary and only two moving on, the outcome could be decided by a very small margin of votes.
