An Austin man’s vehicle was stolen — but later recovered — after his home was apparently broken into over the weekend.
The incident occurred on the 500 block of Sixth Avenue Southeast sometime between Friday night and around 10 a.m. Saturday, according to a police report.
The 32-year-old male homeowner was away during this time, leaving the residence to a 20-year-old male roommate. According to the report, that roommate went to a girlfriend’s house on Friday night. When he returned to the residence the next morning, the front door was wide open and the house appeared to have been rummaged through. The report does not specify if there was forced entry.
Missing were a digital camera, a laptop computer, a gaming system, a Chevy Blazer, a title to the Blazer and keys to another vehicle.
At around 11:20 a.m. Saturday, authorities located the Chevy at the intersection of Highway 218 South and County Road 3, which is less than a mile from the Sixth Avenue residence. The other stolen items were not located inside the truck, according to the report.
No suspects have been identified.
