For local officials and residents, Wednesday will be a good chance to look at ways to “go green.”
That’s because in conjunction with a number of statewide environmental organizations, Austin and Mower County will be hosting a “Minnesota GreenStep Cities” seminar.
The event will largely be targeted to ways city and county governments can enact green policies while dealing with tight budgets, but citizens are also encouraged to bring up community-based ideas.
Attending the meeting will be a variety of officials, including Austin City Administrator Jim Hurm, a representative from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and a representative from the Izaak Walton League.
The meeting will be broken into two free sessions and will be held at the Austin Council Chambers, located at 500 Fourth Ave. NE. The first session is from 3 to 4:30 p.m.; the second is slated to run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Food will be served at 5:30.
To RSVP, guests are asked to contact Linda Maschka at (507) 437-6109. For more information, visit MNGreenSteps.org.
