The Vikings couldn’t close out Stewartville in a 46-36 road loss Thursday.

Hayfield (17-6 overall) led 34-30 with eight minutes to go, but the Tigers (18-3 overall) closed the game on a 16-2 run and the Vikings didn’t score in the last five minutes.

“We had a few tough possessions and we couldn’t get back in to it,” Hayfield head coach Fred Kindschy said. “We just couldn’t execute when we needed to.”

Stewartville outrebounded the Vikings 44-24 and held Hayfield to 29 percent shooting from the field.
