An Austin High School student pleaded guilty to assault Thursday for punching a liaison officer in the school’s hallway last month.
Nathanial Allan Meyer, 18, will appear for sentencing on the single, gross-misdemeanor charge May 21. A misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge was dismissed as part of his plea agreement.
The incident in question occurred Feb. 12.
According to a criminal complaint, Meyer was spotted by the officer, who had already been notified that the student had violated an unspecified school policy and was to be escorted from the building.
When the officer approached Meyer, the teenager began yelling profanities at the officer and eventually slammed a door on him.
The officer continued to track down Meyer, at which point the student punched the cop on the chin. Meyer was handcuffed on site and taken to jail.
