A 59-year-old Austin man accused of threatening a woman with a knife while being kicked out of an area bar last month pleaded not guilty Thursday.

Tommie Earl Conner pleaded not guilty to one count of making terroristic threats, a felony. He also pleaded not guilty to a lesser drug charge for marijuana found on him right before he was taken into jail.

According to a criminal complaint, Conner was becoming belligerently drunk at the Hiawatha Bar on 10th Street Northeast on the evening of Feb. 17. The bartender told Conner to leave, and several patrons assisted in removing him from the bar at around 10 p.m.

On his way out the door, Conner allegedly pulled a three-inch folding knife on a 50-year-old female and threatened to kill her, according to the bartender and another witness.

Police were called and arrested Conner at gunpoint at the nearby Bobee Jo’s Bar, the complaint states. When he arrived at jail, Conner received a preliminary breath test and blew a 0.127, which is more than the legal limit. He also had the bag of marijuana confiscated by officers.
