The home of two Austin residents out-of-town for the winter was reportedly broken into earlier this week.

Police were notified of the apparent break-in Tuesday evening by a 40-year-old son of the couple, according to a police report. He was doing a routine check on the home, located in the 1300 block of Eighth Avenue Northwest, and noticed both a missing screen door and a smashed patio door.

The son went inside and noticed that a set of keys and a garage door opener were missing, though police are waiting for the couple to return to possibly identify additional missing items.

The son had lest checked the home on Sunday, at which time everything appeared fine, the report states.

No suspects have been identified in the case.
