Hayfield baseball team opens strong

The Hayfield baseball team opened its season in style as it bashed 18 hits in a 19-1 win over Goodhue on the road Friday.
The Vikings (1-0 overall, 1-0 HVL) plated 12 runs in the top of the fifth to put the game away.
“We just exploded and it was a good start for us,” Hayfield head coach Craig Selk said.
Hayfield eighth graders Drew Streightiff, who had two hits, and Cole Kruger, who had one hit, contributed in the win.
“We broke them in the right way,” Selk said.
