Arthur Helleck

Arthur Helleck, 83, of Blooming Prairie, died Monday morning, May 3, 2010 at Austin Medical Center.
He was born April 28, 1927 to Theodore and Jane (Noble) Helleck in Austin. Arthur grew up on a farm and after graduating from Blooming Prairie High School in 1945, he went into the Army. After serving his country for two years, he was honorably discharged and went to work for the Oliver plant in Charles City, Iowa in 1947. He married Arlene Holm on Sept. 26, 1950 at Community Lutheran Church in Geneva. Later he became a Hormel Foods employee for 34 years. He was a Semcac volunteer for 19 years. His volunteer work also included the First Lutheran Cemetery Board, American Legion, VFW and First Lutheran Church where he worked at lutefisk dinners. Arthur also liked gardening and sports.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene of Blooming Prairie; a daughter, Joan (Roger) Krejci of Lakeville; two grandchildren, Angela (Matthew) Jacobson and Brian (Ashlie) Krejci; three great-grandchildren, Conner, Kiley and Braden; two brothers, Roscoe (Rita) Helleck of Anchorage, Alaska and Harold (Susan) Helleck of Rochester.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gene in 1967; sisters, Thelma Henricks and Josephine Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 6, 2010 at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with Pastors Heidi Heimgartner and Charles Leonard officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at First Lutheran Cemetery, Blooming Prairie. Memorials are preferred to the Blooming Prairie Cancer Fund.
