Herbert Mlenar

Herbert Charles Mlenar, age 77, of Spring Valley, Minn. died Friday May 14, 2010 at the Grand Meadow Heaalth Care Center where he had resided for a short time.
Herbert was born Dec. 14, 1932 to Joseph and Hazel (McNally) Mlenar in Austin, Minn. They later moved to Spring Valley where he attended school through the eighth grade and joined the United States Army in 1953. He was discharged from Fort Sill in 1955. Herb was united in marriage to Janis C. Nelson on September 13, 1953 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Spring Valley. They enjoyed 56 years of marriage together. Herb worked for Crenlo for 35 years working as a foreman for many of those years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and drawing.
Herb is survived by his wife Janis Mlenar of Spring Valley, Minn.; a daughter: Sue (Rex) Back, Spring Valley, Minn. and a son: Michael Mlenar, Rochester, Minn.; three grandchildren: Jennifer (Keith) Hanson, Sara (Jeremy Bantley) Mlenar and Jared Mlenar; fourth great grandchildren: Tyler, Brady, Jayden and Jace. He is also survived by one sister: Donna (Kenny) Peterson, Canton, Minn. and a brother: Don (Shirley) Mlenar, Spring Valley, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 half brothers Robert and George Maurer.
Memorial services for Herb will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday May 18, 2010 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dennis Timmerman and Rev Laura Fladten officiating. Burial will take place in the Our Saviors Cemetery. Friends may call 1hr prior to the service at the church.
