Ione Cole

Ione Marie Cole, 90, of Blooming Prairie, Minn. died Friday evening, April 30, 2010, at Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Blooming Prairie, Minn. 
She was born Oct. 24, 1919 in Blooming Prairie, the daughter of Anton and Libbie (Wanous) Ruzek. She attended country school near her home. Ione was united in marriage to Lyle Clayton Cole on Oct. 1, 1940. The couple lived their entire married life in Blooming Prairie. While living in Blooming Prairie, Ione worked for the Owatonna Canning Company, retiring after 40 years. Lyle died on Oct. 13, 1987. Ione loved to work in her garden and cook for family and friends. She was an active member of St. Columbanus Catholic Church and the CCW. In 2007, she moved to Heather Haus and then to Prairie Manor Nursing Home in 2008.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Rohwer of Owatonna; her son, David (Carol) Cole of Excelsior; five grandchildren, Chris Cole, Andrea Cole–Sorenson, Karen Hosen, Kenneth Rohwer and John Rohwer; 13 great- grandchildren; one niece; two nephews and other relatives and friends. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lyle on Oct. 13, 1987; two sisters, Evelyn Ille and Marcella Jacobson; son-in-law, Richard Rohwer, and a niece, Madonna Bollinger. 
Ione was the last surviving member of a generation, which included 11 grandchildren of Charles and Frantiska (Herdina) Wanous. 
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie with Father William Kulas officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 4 at the Worlein – Blooming Prairie Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. A Ladies Rosary will be held at 5 p.m., Tuesday, May 4 at the funeral home.
