A Rose Creek man accused of possessing child pornography after a woman discovered the material while doing laundry pleaded guilty Monday in Mower County court.
Samuel Walker Anderson, 31, entered the plea to a single felony count of possessing pornographic material involving minors. He awaits sentencing on June 25, and could face up to five years in jail and a $5,000 fine.
According to a criminal complaint, the woman discovered several DVDs, magazines and printed images of child pornography while putting socks away in Anderson’s dresser drawer on April 23.
She also found more images and child “dress-up” clothes in a duffel bag belonging to Anderson.
The woman called Mower County deputies, who met with her at the residence, located in the 100 block of First Street Northeast. The woman said she was afraid Anderson would destroy the evidence if he learned about her call to authorities, so she had already removed much of it from the house, the complaint states.
Authorities executed a formal search warrant at the home later that afternoon. They seized numerous CDs, digital media devices and printed images related to child pornography, the complaint states.
Anderson arrived home during the search and was arrested. He is in custody on $100,000 bail, or $10,000 with court conditions, which include no Internet use and no contact with the woman.
