Viola Ihrke

Viola Ihrke, 89, of Brownsdale, Minn. died Thursday morning, May 13, 2010, at her residence in Brownsdale.
Viola was born to Edward and Nora Karges on April 25, 1921,  in Dexter, Minn. She moved with her family to Lake City, Iowa at the age of 7. After completing her education, she taught at several rural schools in Iowa before her marriage to Raymond Ihrke, on Nov. 23, 1945. Ray and Viola and their family moved back to Dexter in 1962, where they farmed north of town until 1976. They sold the farm and moved into Dexter. In 1984, Ray and Viola moved to Brownsdale. Viola was a longtime member of Our Savior Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and release time. She was also an active member of Ladies’ Aide and played piano for church services. Viola greatly enjoyed traveling and camping.
Viola is survived by her husband, Raymond; and children, Bill (Joy) Ihrke of Dexter, Minn. and Rozanne (Gary) Sweeney of Montello, Wis.; grandchildren, Tristan (Caesar) Torres and Amber (Syd) Schramm; and three great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Evan, and Cale.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Warren Karges.

The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Brownsdale, Minn. with the Rev. Jeffery Sage officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
The Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Brownsdale is in charge of arrangements.
