An Austin man convicted of felony criminal sexual conduct for touching boys in Austin and Winona during the last few years was sentenced to up to 18 years in prison Wednesday.
Mower County District Judge Donald Rysavy issued the sentence to Michael Dennis Conway, 51, of 1503 Seventh St. NW. Conway could be released after serving 12 years, though he will remain on conditional release for 10 years after leaving prison, meaning additional violations could land him back in jail.
According to a Mower County court complaint, the touching in Austin began in fall 2006. The boy, who was 10 at the time, told authorities that Conway would tell him to take his clothes off then touch his private areas.
The abuse took place at Conway’s Seventh Street house and at a rural Rose Creek residence, the complaint states.
Conway also abused a 14-year-old boy living in Winona that he met about a year ago, according to the Winona Daily News.
In addition to the jail time, Conway will be on the state’s predatory offender list for life, according to the terms of his sentence.
