Demo derby driver burned at Worth Fair

A demolition derby driver was taken to the hospital by helicopter Sunday night to be treated for burns after his car caught fire at the Worth County Fairgrounds in Iowa.
The Worth County Sheriff’s Office has not released the man’s name. The amount and severity of his burns are unknown at this point, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
The incident occurred at around 7:45 p.m. on Sunday at the fairgrounds, which are located in Northwood. The man was inside his vehicle when it caught fire, the press release states. Authorities were able to remove the man from the car, but not before he sustained burns.
Sunday was the last night of the 2010 Worth County Fair.
