Frederick Schaefer

Frederick William Schaefer, 86, of Bloomington, Minn., passed away peacefully June 28, 2010, surrounded by his family.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. 
He was born Oct. 18, 1923, in Adams, Minn.
Fred was a WWII Army Veteran and longtime parishioner of Nativity of Mary Catholic Church. He enjoyed life and brought smiles to everyone who knew him through his sense of humor and thoughtfulness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Schaefer, and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bernice; children, Charles Schaefer, Steven (Barbara) Schaefer, Patricia (Christopher) Conroy and Pamela (Steven) Otteson; grandchildren, Jennifer, Patrick, Christina (Bernard Bartos), Kalyn, Stefanie and Kimberly; great-grandson, Colin; five brothers; four sisters; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Colony at  Eden Prairie for their support and care throughout the journey.
A mass of Christian burial will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2010, at the Church of the Nativity of Mary, 9900 Lyndale Ave. S., Bloomington. Visitation is Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Gill Brothers Funeral Chapel, 9947 Lyndale Ave. S. and one hour prior to mass at church. Interment is at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
If desired, memorials may be directed to the family to be donated in Frederick’s memory.
