Katheran Johnson

Katheran Elizabeth Johnson, 91, of Austin, died Sunday, May 30, 2010, at her home.
Katheran was born on Sept. 15, 1918, to Fred and Anna (Bathen) Vaughn in Alta Vista, Iowa. She married Rudy Blom on Sept. 15, 1936; they later divorced. Katheran married Edgar Johnson in 1965. Rudy and Katheran operated the Standard Oil Station and Cafe in Grand Meadow in the 1940s, before returning to farming. After farming in the Elkton area, they later moved to Austin. She later worked at the Main Street Café in Austin; Wallace’s and worked with the Green Thumb Program of Mower County.  Katheran was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Austin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Johnson; daughter, Barbara; son, Ron; a great-granddaughter; her parents; one sister and three brothers.
Katheran is survived by her daughter, Genevieve (Norbert) Thorsen of Grand Meadow, Minn.; son, Gary (Alice) Blom of Byron, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Janet Blom of Maple Grove, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jeffrey Forbes officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour before the service on Thursday at the church.
