Days before the anniversary of 2009’s tornado the Mower County Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold a disaster training course.

The course, “Disaster Assessment,” will be held June 15 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The entry-level course is designed for people interested in becoming involved in disaster volunteering, or those who want to get into the “heart of the action,” according to the Red Cross.

Disaster assessment workers are often the first on the scene following an emergency.
