Northwest Mower County sustained a number of downed trees and power lines, as well as damage to properties, during Saturday night’s storm.
The area most directly impacted was along a three-mile stretch of 300th Avenue, near Freeborn County and north of the Lansing area. No injuries were reported, Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi said, but several properties were slammed by fallen trees and at least one shed had a roof blown off.
Also Saturday, a rural Brownsdale home was struck by lightning. Amazi said on Monday that she didn’t have further details about the incident, but she said she believed no one was hurt.
The damaging storm came less than 10 days after tornadoes ravaged the Blooming Prairie and Albert Lea areas, leading to one death and a large amount of damage to rural properties.
