James Clements Crichton, 81, of Austin died, Thursday, July 1, 2010, at the Austin Medical Center.
James was born in July 2, 1928, in Oakland, Minn., to James and Clara (Severson) Crichton. On Aug. 16, 1980, he married Carol Cramer in Grand Meadow. He served in the U.S. Army and the National Guard for 34 years. James worked as a janitor in the Grand Meadow School District. He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church. James was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol; and step-daughter, Carol Cramer.
James is survived by his sister: Carrie Winkels of Austin, Minn.; nieces and nephews, Raymond Winkels, Jr. of Austin, Fred Winkels of Austin, Sandra (Lorimer) Nelson of Lyle, Minn., Eugene (Joanne) Winkels of Ariz., Cynthia (Rodney) Johnson of Austin; step-daughters, Sandra (David) Nelson of Lyle, Minn., Cynthia (Steven) Vogt of Sargeant, Minn.; son, William (Crichton) Anderson; 12 step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; dog, Snowball.
Service plans have been changed; there will not be a service at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. There will be a graveside service held on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
