A man who was stopped for having too many riders on his scooter and then did not provide valid identification pleaded guilty to felony forgery Thursday in Mower County court.

Josue Raymundo Aguilar, 20, entered a guilty plea on a single count. He has also been ordered to cooperate with the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, which handles deportation cases.

According to a criminal complaint, Aguilar was pulled over on June 10 for having a passenger on what is supposed to be a one-person motorized scooter. Aguilar told police that he had no driver’s license and no insurance. He did provide an Accentra Credit Union card in the name “Jose A. Rios,” and he wrote out his name as “Jose Angel Arroyo Rios.”

The officer ran that name, which came back linked to an active warrant in Virginia, the complaint states. The officer then questioned the man further, and Aguilar admitted that “Rios” was a name he used for work at Quality Pork Processors (QPP) in Austin. Aguilar was then arrested.

Documents sent by QPP show that “Rios” did in fact work there, the complaint states. In addition, a photo of “Rios” provided by the U.S. Marshal’s office did not match the man arrested by local police.
