Rodney Johnson

Rodney Dale Johnson, 54, of Austin, died Sunday, July 4, 2010, at his home.
He was born Dec. 20, 1955, in Cass Lake, Minn. As a child, Rod was active in Boy Scouts. He loved camping and fishing. His passion for fishing remained throughout his life. Rod also liked video games and cooking. He was a self-employed exterior painter. Rod took care of his mother by helping with household chores; he was very caring and protective of her. Rod loved the Vikings and Minnesota hockey, whether it was the North Stars or Wild. His family and friends will miss him.
Rodney is survived by his mother, Donna (Hawkins) Johnson of Austin; siblings, Greg Johnson of Glenwood, Minn., Cindy (Dave) Richardson of Phoenix, Ariz., Dan Johnson of Austin and Mary Johnson of Owatonna.
He was preceded in death by his father, Loren Johnson, and his grandmother, Isabelle Hawkins.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 9, 2010, at Mayer Funeral Home. His family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday
