A man wanted for two stabbings in downtown Austin earlier this month was apprehended in St. Cloud, Minn., on Tuesday.

Ghavin Darrell Marryshaw, 24, will be back in the Mower County jail by the end of the day Wednesday, according to police. Marryshaw has been wanted on a warrant since July 15, and he faces two counts of felony assault in local district court.

Police did not provide further information on how they tracked Marryshaw to St. Cloud or how the arrest was made.

The two incidents in question occurred a week apart. In the more recent incident, which occurred July 11, Marryshaw allegedly slashed Andrew Lee Davis, 27, of Austin, on both arms and stabbed him in the upper chest while in front of a downtown bar.

Davis ended up getting about 100 stitches for his injuries, police said, but he recovered well at a Rochester hospital.

According to a criminal complaint, several witnesses saw Marryshaw and Davis arguing outside Mickey’s Bar on Second Avenue Northeast at around 1 a.m. Marryshaw then allegedly began flailing at Davis, before dropping a knife and fleeing the scene.

On July 4, a similar scene reportedly unfolded in the Plaza Lot. A 19-year-old male told police he was outside with a group of people after bar close when another group walked up and started harassing them. An argument ensued, and the two groups began pushing and shoving, a criminal complaint states. The 19-year-old said he was in the middle of this when he felt a sharp prick in his left lower back, and then again on his left wrist.

He told police that a black male in his 20s with braided hair, a dark cap, a white T-shirt and blue jeans fled from the scene right after the incident and before police arrived.

After further investigation, police determined that the suspect was Marryshaw. Provided a photo lineup with Marryshaw in it, the alleged victim positively identified his assailant, the complaint states.
