A 19-year-old man was flown to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester early Sunday morning after falling 30 feet from the roof of a grain bin on a Grand Meadow farm.

Daniel Keith Ottjes of Stewartville, was at a party at a Grand Meadow farm, located at 772nd Avenue, when he was asked by the renter of the property to leave. A short time later, Ottjes was found lying on the ground by two grain bins.

Ottjes said after the fall that he had tried to jump from one grain bin to another.

Mayo One landed on the farm property and transported Ottjes to St. Marys Hospital where he was treated for multiple injuries.

According to the incident report, Ottjes had sustained injuries to his arms and legs.

The Sheriff’s office was not aware Tuesday whether or not drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.
