William D. Sucha, 88

William D. Sucha, 88, died Aug. 6 in Green Bay.
His death ends a long and distinguished career in both community service and in his chosen profession as a judicial court administrator in Denver, Colo.; Muskegon, Mich.; Kalamazoo, Mich, and in Green Bay. He is a World War II veteran and served in the European Theatre with the 101st Army Air Force Division.
He was born in Austin, graduated from St. Olaf College with a teaching degree. He taught school for three years and then was elected clerk of Court for Mower County in Austin. He was selected to be in the first class of the institute for Court Management and moved to Denver and on to Aspen for his training and graduated in 1972.
He led the many drives for the March of Dimes back when their primary objective was eradicating polio. Bill also was responsible for the preserving the last active Milwaukee Road
Steam Locomotive#1004, which is still on display in Austin. He has worked for Easter Seals and the Salvation Army from Austin to Green Bay where he served on the board and was
awarded the Others Award in appreciation for his long service to his fellow men.
He is mourned by his wife, Bernice; his sons, Jonathan (and his longtime partner Frank), of Denver, Jim who recently moved back to Green Bay from Denver, and Jordan (Lori), of Sheboygan Falls; and his daughter, Julianne (Bob) of Austin, of Texas; four grandchildren, Jacob (Chelsea), Jordan and Ian and little Miranda.
Viewing and services will be held at First United Methodist Church, 501 Howe St., on Aug. 9 at 2 p.m. Viewing will be held at noon until 2 p.m. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Allouez. A memorial fund has been established for the Research Center for Alzheimer’s Disease at the Mayo Clinic.
