MINNEAPOLIS — Former President Bill Clinton makes his way to Minnesota for a fundraising event aimed at helping Democratic gubernatorial nominee Mark Dayton.
Clinton’s time in Minnesota on Tuesday will be brief, but Democrats are hoping it will build excitement for the party and Dayton’s bankroll.
Organizers of the event at a downtown Minneapolis hotel sought donations of between $250 and $1,000 for Dayton’s campaign.
Dayton is a former U.S. senator. He’s trying to break a 24-year party drought in Minnesota gubernatorial elections.
Dayton backed then-Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton in the race for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination. Clinton lost to Obama but later became his U.S. Secretary of State.
