The Austin Police Department issued the following statement at 3 p.m. Thursday:

“The water conditions in the Ramsey area have caused the Austin Police Department to activate its flood watch system. All persons in or near the affected area should take appropriate action to protect their property consisted with developments.”
Stay tuned to the website for updates and changes in the status of the flood conditions from a watch to a warning.
Do not call the law enforcement center unless absolutely necessary or unless you have information to help them evaluate the situation.
Sandbags have been placed around the Humane Society in Austin, as well as Riverside Arena.
