A night of frustration on offense ended with a bad break for the Hayfield football team in a 14-7 loss at Winona Cotter (1-1 overall) Friday.
Hayfield (0-2 overall) had the ball on Cotter’s 35-yard line with a third and eight on its last possession of the night when the Vikings missed a pitch on a lead option and lost 15 yards.
“Every time we made a couple of first downs, we’d turn it over a lose a pitch,” Hayfield head coach Grant Klennert said.
The Vikings trailed 14-0 after three quarters but Evan Bungum made it a 14-7 game with a 34-yard touchdown pass to Brady Kramer with 10:56 left in the game.
