Jailhouse Rock to welcome new Jail and Justice Center

The Paramount Theatre isn’t letting the opening of the Mower County Jail and Justice Center go unnoticed.
On Monday, the theatre is hosting a special Jailhouse Rock Concert, featuring two area artists, one of whom is a known Elvis impersonator.
“It’s our way of welcoming the new complex and all the people who re going to be working there across the street,” said Paramount Manager of Operations Scott Anderson.
The show is intended to add a lighter side of the Jail and Justice Center opening — a project that has attracted controversy from the beginning.
“We’ll just welcome them with a nice little show and a tongue-in-cheek Jailhouse rock,” Anderson said.
While the show is geared for those who work at the center, Anderson said it’s open to everyone.
“It’s certainly open to the public and geared for the community,” he said. “But certainly we are hoping to get a bunch of folks who work for the county at the old building who are moving in to have a great time.”
Tickets are $7 and will be sold at the theater Friday, Saturday and Monday. The one-hour event will kick off at 7:30 p.m. at Paramount Theatre.
