The Rebels football team showed it can run in its opener, so it decided to show it can also throw in a 34-7 win at Kingsland (1-1 overall) Friday and Saturday.
Southland quarterback Sam Noterman threw for 268 yards and three scores and Alan May hauled in nine passes for 200 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
May also picked off two passes on defense, returning one for a score.
Southland (2-0 overall) led 27-0 on Friday when the game was delayed due to lightning and they finished the game on Saturday, where each team scored once.
“I’m not making excuses but it’s difficult to be so high, have it delayed and have to come back the next day and play again,” Southland head coach Shawn Kennedy said. “This is good for us and we’ve still got work to do.”
Southland racked up over 400 yards of offense in the win.
