The police chief said that over 200 volunteers arrived at the Salvation Army yesterday to assist with sandbagging efforts.
“They did a wonderful job and helped save some property,” he said.
Austin Utilities General Manager Jerry McCarthy said there have been no power outages and none are expected.
According to the NWS, three to six inches of rain fell Wednesday and Thursday night on the Cedar River Basin, resulting in moderate flooding along the river and its tributaries.

Turtle Creek in Austin crested this morning at 12.7 feet, causing minor flooding around the creek, according to the NWS. The creek is expected to go down throughout the day.
The forecast for today calls for mostly cloudy skies with highs near 61. No rain is expected until Saturday.
The Mower County Board is holding at meeting at 10:30 a.m. today to declare a state of emergency, which will make the county eligible for FEMA funding.
