Rebels take fifth at Southland volleyball invite

The Southland volleyball team took fifth place at the Mabel/Canton Invite Saturday as it put in seven two-game matches in one day.
The Rebels lost to Mabel/Canton 25-14, 25-13, Rushford/Peterson 25-22, 25-13, Brainerd 26-24, 25-20, and Spring Grove 25-19, 25-20, while beating Houston 25-19, 25-20 and Alma, Wis. 25-21, 25-15.
Southland (2-7-1 overall) also tied Alma 24-26, 25-21 in pool play.
“We had a slow start, but we progressed and played better throughout the day,” Southland head coach Angie Smith said. “I hope it helps us get used to playing with each other for the rest of the season.”
