Southland takes third in volleyball invite

Southland took third in its own volleyball invite on Saturday as it topped Blooming Prairie 25-20, 25-11 in its final match of the day.
The Awesome Blossoms (5-9 overall) took fourth and Lyle/Pacelli took seventh in the eight-team invite.
Southland (9-14 overall) won three and lost two on the day as it beat Alden/Conger 25-16, 25-14, 15-10 and Medford 25-16, 25-20, 15-6 in pool play and fell to Mabel/Canton 25-17, 25-22, 15-11 and Alma, Wis. 25-17, 25-21.
L/P (1-10 overall) got its first win of the year as it beat A/C 25-20, 25-23.
The Athletics lost to Plainview/Elgin/Millville 25-16, 25-13, 25-13, Alma, 25-9, 25-11, 15-3, BP 25-10, 25-13, 13-15, and Medford 25-8, 25-18.
BP beat P/E/M 23-25, 25-14, 15-8; L/P 25-10, 25-13, 13-15 and lost to Alma 25-15, 23-25, 15-6 and M/C 25-12, 25-16.
M/C won the invite and Alma was second.
