Austin sees first sign of snowfall

Austin’s first snow of the season came at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. A few flurries — mixed with light rain — lashed along on westerly winds gusting to 30 mph, but quickly melted as they hit the ground.
The same storm that had bee whipping the region with high winds had already scattered a few flurries further north, and forecasts called for a chance of more rain and snow showers in the Austin area through until early Thursday morning. By Thursday afternoon the sky was expected to begin clearing and the winds diminishing, leaving behind continued cool temperatures: A high of 40 is forecast for Thursday, followed by a low of 22 on Thursday night.
