The doors are now open at Jo-Ann Fabrics in Austin.
While the store officially opened Nov. 5, the Grand Opening is scheduled for Nov. 18 to 20, with special events scheduled for that time period.
“We like to create some excitement for the new store opening,” said Senior Public Relations Specialist Aimee Weber. “We have morning give-aways and great coupon offers. It gives everyone a chance to come in and experience the store and save a few dollars at the same time.”
With the Christmas season just around the corner, Weber said the timing is right for those preparing to make holiday gifts.
“This is an especially good time of the year, when everyone is starting their holiday shopping.”
The new store is located in the mini mall complex, which currently includes Target and Staples, off Interstate 90 and near Highway 218.
Hiring for the store is already complete. After a job fair held this fall, the store is at full staff and ready for business.
Jo-Ann Fabrics is known for carrying items for crafts and sewing projects.
“This new store will provide local creative enthusiasts with a wide selection of merchandise and inspiration for craft projects ranging from scrapbooking, sewing and knitting, to beading, cake decorating and more. They house a vast assortment of crafting, floral and seasonal accessories, as well as home-decor and items and an extensive selection of fabrics for apparel, crafting, quilting, and home decorating,” according to Joni Canter, special events specialist for Jo-Ann Fabrics.
In August, Jo-Ann Fabrics corporate leaders announced it was closing its store in Albert Lea.
Canter said Jo-Ann Fabrics was a good fit for the Austin area because the city’s demographic make-up matched that of Jo-Ann’s customer base.
