ST. PAUL — Republican Tom Emmer is dropping lawsuits against two counties over election data — for now.
Emmer’s campaign said Tuesday that it has tentative agreements with officials in Pine and St. Louis counties to turn over data including voter rolls, paper trails from voting equipment, absentee ballot data and precinct incident reports.
Emmer’s attorneys sued the counties’ election administrators last week for not turning over the information quickly.
State GOP Chairman Tony Sutton says the campaign expects the bulk of the information by the end of the week.
Sutton says Republicans aren’t gathering data for a lawsuit over the undecided governor’s election in which Emmer trails Democrat Mark Dayton by more than 8,700 votes. The margin is small enough to prompt an automatic recount.
