WASHINGTON — Republicans have captured their first two Democratic seats as they pressed to regain control of the House on Tuesday.
Republican Sandy Adams has defeated Democratic Rep. Suzanne Kosmas in a central Florida district. In Virginia, Republican Morgan Griffith has ousted veteran Democrat Rick Boucher in a rural district held by the incumbent since 1982.
In Indiana, Republican Larry Bucshon (BOO’-shon) has won an open seat in Indiana vacated by Democratic Rep. Brad Ellsworth.
Democrats seized an open seat in Delaware formerly held by Republicans, but nationwide the GOP was leading in some two dozen seats held by Democrats.
Republicans need to capture 40 seats to reclaim control of the House that they lost in 2006.
