Mark Steven Hillberg, age 56, died unexpectedly while at work, Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 in York, Neb.
He was born April 1, 1954 in Fort Riley, Kan. to George and Dorothy (Olson) Hillberg. After graduating from Austin High School in 1972, Mark joined the Navy. He served four years on the USS Kitty Hawk.
He married Cathy Serra on Dec. 18, 1985 at First United Methodist Church in Austin, Minn. They were later divorced. Mark was employed as a nationwide truck driver.
Mr. Hillberg enjoyed talking politics and loved over-the-road trucking.
His true passions were driving a truck and having a dog named Emil.
He is survived by his mother: Dorothy (Wayne) Allore, Austin, Minn.; sisters: Sherri Erickson, Austin, Minn. and Sara Hillberg, St. Paul, Minn.; brothers: Lon Hillberg and George (Kimberley) Hillberg, both of Austin, Minn.; niece: Stephanie Erickson, Austin, Minn.; nephews: Mark Erickson and Dominic Hillberg, both of Austin, Minn.; grandniece: Lillian Lange Erickson, Austin, Minn. and his beloved dog Emil.
He was preceded in death by his father, George.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday Dec. 3, 2010 at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Dec. 3, 2010 at the funeral home. Military rites will be performed by the American Legion Post 91. Interment will be at a later date. Memorials are preferred to the family.
