What’s Happening: Rabbits galore this weekend in Austin
Published 8:22 am Friday, November 12, 2010
I have seen a rabbit or two in my day. When I was young, my parents raised rabbits. My brothers and I often played with the bunnies, letting them jump around the yard in the middle of our out-stretched legs. I’ve seen beautiful show breeds with long hair and even longer ears at local fairs but not until I saw pictures of a “Giant Flemish” rabbit had I ever imagined such a beautiful creature existed.
You can see the Flemish breed for yourself this weekend at the Oak Park Mall. And while you are there, you can shop at the Holiday Art and Craft sale — no sales tax on the weekends, the indoor Farmer’s Market, or check out the large train display. The AAAC is serving up homemade chili, too.
Some other highlights around town: “bag day” at the First UMC’s garage sale, open skating at Packer Arena and “A Winnie the Pooh Christmas Tail.” Details for these events, and many others, can be found in our Community Calendar on Page 4 of today’s paper or by clicking here.
