Vernon D. “Chub” Iverson, 83, of LeRoy died Friday at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

He was born April 14, 1927 in Austin, to John Iverson and Lillie Swenson Iverson. He attended LeRoy school through the eighth grade and then began his farming career with his father. He was united in marriage to Darlo Wickstrom on June 22, 1951, in Bowling Green, Ohio. They lived and farmed in LeRoy until moving to Alaska for Chub’s military assignment in 1954. They returned to LeRoy to resume farming 19 months later. In 1967, they moved to the Iverson farm southwest of LeRoy. Chub enjoyed horses and horseback riding, raising Angus cattle, farming, and his family and friends. He was a member of the Angus Association, the LeRoy Saddle Club and the First National Bank Board. He notably served on the LeRoy Co-Op board for 26 years, acting as Chairman for many of those years.

He is survived by three daughters, Deb Iverson of LeRoy; Pam (John) Koster of Rochester, and Colette (Bill) Miles of LeRoy; four grandchildren, Jessica and Jenna Meyer and Lauren and Clayton Koster, step-grandchildren Christopher, Michael, Elizabeth and Thomas Miles and a step great- granddaughter Ella, one brother-in-law, Elnathan Anderson of Buffalo, Ill.; three nephews, Nathan, Tim and David Anderson and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Darlo on June 4, 2009, a sister Marlys and a sister in infancy.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010 at the LeRoy Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev Elaine Siemsen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010 at the Hindt Funeral Home in LeRoy and one hour prior to the service at the church.
